Winter Storm Kassandra Spreading Snow From The Midwest To Northeast
At a Glance
A winter storm will spread snow from the Midwest into the Northeast today.
Significant snowfall and gusty winds will hamper travel along the path of the storm.
The storm will wind down on Thursday, but snowfall will linger in northern New England and the Great Lakes.
Winter Storm Kassandra will hamper travel as it spreads snow through portions of the Midwest, Great Lakes and Northeast on Wednesday.
Current Radar, Alerts
Snowfall from Kassandra is impacting areas from the Great Lakes to the Northeast right now.
The storm brought several inches of snow to the Southern Plains and Ozarks on Tuesday.
Tree damage and power outages have been reported in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas after the area picked up to a foot of heavy, wet snow.
Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service along the current and future path of Kassandra.
Those alerts stretch from the Great Lakes into New England. Expect hazardous travel conditions in some of these areas because of the snowfall.

Forecast Timing
Wednesday-Wednesday Night
At least moderate snow and gusty winds will impact the Great Lakes and mid-Mississippi Valley on Wednesday. Travel will be impacted by this combination in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis and St. Louis.
In the Northeast, the Interstate 95 corridor from New York City to Boston might see a brief period of snowfall before changing to rain.
The interior Northeast can expect the most snowfall, although some areas on the southern fringe of the wintry weather might eventually change to a wintry mix, even rain.
Wednesday's Forecast
(The green shadings depict where rain is expected. Areas that are shaded blue are expected to see snow. Purple-shaded locations may see either rain or snow. Areas in pink are expected to see sleet or freezing rain (ice). )
Thursday
Kassandra will begin to pull away on Thursday, but snowfall and gusty winds could linger from northern New England into the eastern Great Lakes.
Forecast Snowfall Totals
Additional snow totals in the Midwest and Great Lakes will be 1 to 5 inches. Localized totals of 5 to 8 inches are possible in locations that see the heaviest and most persistent snow.
Farther east, portions of upstate New York and northern New England are likely to pick up 6 inches or more of snowfall.
